This Policy sets out what you may not generate with YouTube Writer, what you may not do with the Service, and what you are responsible for before you publish anything it produces. It exists so that the Service stays safe and lawful for everyone who uses it.
1. Scope and Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") sets out what you may not do with YouTube Writer (the "Service"). It forms part of our Terms of Service, and breaching it is a breach of those Terms.
This Policy applies to everything you submit to the Service, everything you generate with it, and everything you do with the output afterwards, including content you publish on any platform.
The Service generates draft video scripts. It is a writing tool, and the responsibility for what is written and published with it rests with you. We are not able to review output before you receive it, which is why these rules matter.
This Policy is not exhaustive. We may act against any use we reasonably consider abusive, unlawful or harmful, even if it is not listed here.
2. The General Rule
You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with:
- all applicable laws and regulations, in your own jurisdiction and in any jurisdiction you target;
- the terms, policies and community guidelines of any platform where you publish the output, including its rules on synthetic and AI-generated media;
- any advertising, disclosure, consumer protection, financial promotion or professional conduct rules that apply to your content or your industry.
3. Prohibited Content
You may not use the Service to generate, request, refine or distribute content that:
Sexual content and child safety
- sexualizes a minor in any way, or depicts, describes, solicits or facilitates child sexual abuse material. This is an absolute prohibition, admits no exception, results in immediate termination, and will be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to law enforcement as required by law;
- is pornographic or sexually explicit, or is sexual content involving a real person without their consent;
- sexualizes violence or non-consensual sexual activity.
Violence, harm and extremism
- incites, threatens, glorifies or provides instruction for violence, terrorism or violent extremism;
- promotes or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide or disordered eating;
- provides instructions for making weapons, explosives, or biological, chemical, radiological or nuclear agents;
- provides instructions for synthesizing controlled substances or for other seriously harmful activity.
Hate and harassment
- attacks, demeans, dehumanizes or promotes hatred against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, disability, disease, age, sex, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation;
- harasses, bullies, threatens, stalks, intimidates or seeks to shame a specific individual;
- discloses private information about a person without consent, including home address, phone number, financial details or identity documents.
Deception and fraud
- impersonates any person, company or organization, or falsely implies endorsement, affiliation or authorship;
- creates content designed to deceive about a real person’s words or actions, including deepfake scripts, fabricated quotations and fabricated interviews;
- promotes fraud, scams, phishing, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, fake giveaways, counterfeit goods, or deceptive earnings, investment or health claims;
- contains fabricated news, invented statistics or invented citations presented as fact, or is designed to mislead about elections, voting or civic processes;
- contains fake reviews, testimonials, endorsements or engagement, or is intended to manipulate a platform’s ranking or recommendation system;
- is designed to mislead about the source of the content, including undisclosed AI-generated content where disclosure is required.
Infringement and misappropriation
- infringes the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, database, moral, publicity or privacy rights of any person;
- reproduces a substantial part of a third-party work, such as a transcript, article, book, lyric or script, whether by supplying it as input or by asking for it to be reproduced as output;
- uses a person’s name, voice, likeness or persona in a way that suggests endorsement without permission;
- circumvents or facilitates the circumvention of technical protection measures or paywalls.
Regulated and sensitive advice
- presents generated output as medical, mental health, legal, tax, financial, investment, insurance or immigration advice from a qualified professional;
- provides individualized diagnosis, treatment, dosing, legal strategy or investment recommendations;
- concerns crisis or emergency situations in a way that could delay someone seeking qualified help.
General educational content on these topics is permitted, provided it is accurate, does not present itself as professional advice, and carries any disclosure your jurisdiction requires. See our Disclaimer.
Spam and bulk content
- is generated at volume for the purpose of publishing low-value content at scale, including content farms and mass-produced channels designed to game a recommendation system;
- is used to send unsolicited bulk messages, comments or promotions;
- is intended for use in malware, ransomware, credential harvesting or any other malicious payload.
Content involving children
Content made for children is subject to additional legal requirements in many jurisdictions, including the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and platform-specific rules. If you generate content directed at children, you are responsible for complying with all of those requirements.
4. Prohibited Conduct
Regardless of the content involved, you may not:
Abuse of the Service
- circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, any quota, rate limit, paywall, access control, content filter or security measure;
- create multiple accounts to evade limits, suspensions or bans, or to obtain multiple free trials;
- share, sell, rent or transfer your account or credentials, or allow anyone else to use your account;
- use automated means to access the Service, including bots, scrapers and crawlers, other than through an interface we expressly provide for that purpose;
- submit prompts designed to extract our system prompts, model instructions or other confidential elements of the Service, or to make the Service behave outside its intended purpose.
Competing and derivative use
- resell, sublicense, rent, lease or otherwise make the Service available to third parties as a competing or substantially similar service;
- use the Service, or output from it, to develop, train, fine-tune, evaluate or improve any machine learning model or competing product;
- systematically extract output in order to build a dataset, corpus or database;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Service, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
Technical interference
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service or its infrastructure without our prior written permission;
- access, or attempt to access, any account, data or system you are not authorized to access;
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, including by denial-of-service attacks or by imposing an unreasonable load;
- introduce malware, or any code intended to damage, disable or gain unauthorized access to any system;
- remove, obscure or alter any proprietary notice, or misrepresent your relationship with us.
Misuse of other people data
- submit personal information about a third party without a lawful basis to do so;
- submit sensitive personal information, payment card data, health records, biometric data or government identifiers;
- use the Service to profile, surveil or target an individual.
5. Your Obligations When Publishing
Output is a first draft, not a finished, verified product. Before you publish anything derived from it, you are responsible for:
- Reviewing and editing it. Read the whole thing. Output can be inaccurate, internally inconsistent or inappropriate for your audience.
- Fact-checking every factual claim. AI models fabricate facts, statistics, quotations, studies and citations with complete fluency. Verify anything you assert as true against a reliable primary source.
- Clearing rights. Confirm that names, brands, quotations, music, footage and imagery you combine with the script are cleared for your use.
- Making required disclosures. Comply with any obligation to disclose AI-generated or synthetic content, sponsorship, affiliate relationships or paid promotion.
- Checking platform rules. Confirm the content complies with the guidelines of every platform you publish it on.
6. Reporting a Violation
If you become aware of content or conduct that breaches this Policy, report it to abuse@youtubewriter.com. Please include enough detail for us to identify what you are reporting, such as the account email or the URL where content appeared, and a description of the problem.
To report copyright infringement specifically, follow the process in our Copyright and DMCA Policy, which sets out the information a valid notice must contain.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are not an emergency service and cannot intervene in real time.
7. How We Enforce This Policy
We may investigate suspected breaches and may take any action we consider appropriate and proportionate, including:
- issuing a warning;
- removing or restricting access to specific content;
- applying rate limits, or reducing or withdrawing plan features;
- suspending your account temporarily;
- terminating your account and refusing future service;
- retaining evidence, and reporting to law enforcement or another competent authority where we are required to, or where we reasonably believe there is a risk of serious harm.
We generally aim to warn first and to give you a chance to put things right. We may act immediately and without notice where the breach is serious or repeated, where it is unlawful, where it exposes us or a third party to liability, or where delay could cause harm.
Termination for breach of this Policy does not entitle you to a refund. See our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Appeals
If you believe we have acted in error, email support@youtubewriter.com explaining why. We will review the decision, and a different member of our team will consider your appeal wherever practicable. We will not retaliate against you for appealing in good faith.
We do not undertake to monitor all use of the Service, and our failure to act on a breach in one instance is not a waiver of our right to act in another.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as the Service, the law or the pattern of abuse we see changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised, and material changes will be notified as described in our Terms of Service. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
